ABOUT PHIL

Phil serves as Vice President and Southern Ohio Commercial Manager for Commonwealth Land Title’s Cincinnati National Commercial Services (NCS) operation. He maintains the exceptional established culture while growing the offices and ensures the NCS continues to provide top level customer service and maintain our high professional standards in the industry. Joining the Company from private law practice in 2008, Phil was part of the newly opened Omaha Claims Center where he handled claims and was tasked with starting up the recoupment department in Omaha. That department grew collecting tens of millions of dollars under his watch. Later, as Senior Managing Counsel, Phil oversaw the claims managers and ensured that the teams were running smoothly. He also testified on behalf of the Company in depositions and trials in various suits. Phil then relocated to Chicago to run the In-House Litigation office where he hired, trained, and oversaw a team of boots on the ground attorneys that go to court for the Company’s insureds and the Company itself. Beginning in 2015, he managed all 8 of the in-house litigation offices for the eastern half of the country. In that role, Phil made sure the Company’s litigation proceeded in the most effective and cost-efficient manner possible while ensuring delivery of the highest quality legal representation to our clients. He has led manager seminars on leadership and seminars on communication with his entire department.

Phil led the initiative to have Illinois statute 1401 changed to protect BFP’s from losing their property years after purchase. He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa and received the Muchemore Scholarship in law school. He earned a B.S. in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Phil was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and spent 11 years living in the Chicagoland area. He is married with 4 children and enjoys watching them play sports and taking his dogs on walks.
